Our Research-Based Instructional Philosophy
At TenMarks, we believe that students learn best when they're engaged, nurtured,
and motivated. We also believe that every student needs a personalized program - one that presents the
math concepts they need to learn in manageable sections, using clear lessons and helpful hints, and
with immediate feedback and instruction.
The TenMarks curriculum was developed in collaboration with teachers, math specialists,
and curriculum developers, then field-tested in classrooms, and refined based on extensive teacher and
student feedback. Each album and track is made up of carefully crafted questions, based on our instructional
philosophy - practice, instruction, assessment, and intervention.
The question is just the beginning of the learning process. Every problem in the TenMarks library,
whether it's a word problem, equation, graph, or shape, is developed with the intent to engage the student's
problem-solving skills. With a continually growing bank of questions, students are assured access to a wide variety of
problems to practice and perfect their skills and build a strong foundation.
Research has proven that when students have access to instruction at the point of greatest need - when they're
working on a topic and are 'stuck' - it is the most effective. To guide students during their assignments,
we provide hints and video lessons. The hints offer conceptual context and explanation, and explore
problem-solving methods and processes. TenMarks' just-in-time instruction helps students learn and succeed.
When a student completes an assignment, TenMarks' adaptive engine instantly grades the work and
encourages students to review incorrect answers. They are supported by videos and hints that help build skills
and improve problem-solving approaches. TenMarks also helps make assessments actionable - give students the TenMarks
assessment or import your data and we'll construct custom playlists for every student based on their unique
needs - differentiate, personalize, succeed.
We know educators can't be at every students' side all the time - so we've built
TenMarks to be your virtual teacher's aide! When our adaptive engine finds that a
student needs additional help with a topic, it assigns a TenMarks Amplifier.
Modeled on a 1:1 instructional session, the Amplifier takes a student step by step
through a concept to initiate learning and extend conceptual understanding.
